Client organisationFamilies, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaCSIA) Date of commencement2007 Length of engagementOne year Brief descriptionThe Human Dimension is currently engaged by FaCSIA to assist with a national Indigenous Community Leadership Program involving some 200 Indigenous men, women and youth in a coaching and facilitation capacity. We have also provided leadership development training, mentoring, facilitation, mediation and coaching support for staff and liaison officers employed by the department in the Indigenous Community Leadership Project. Skills required
Lessons learnedIt is vital that the contexts in which programs are delivered are connected to the strategic intent and is supported and understood by senior managers. The development and capacity development of people cannot be outsourced to consultants and ‘all care-no responsibility’ can develop cynicism.
Relevance to potential clientsIn delivering programs, workshops and services we are able, through discussion and exploration with you, to demonstrate the connection between the activity or service provided and the outcome you seek to obtain from our involvement. People of different background, beliefs, culture and life experiences can benefit greatly from culturally aware and appropriate service provision and each person can contribute significantly to the overall learning outcomes. |
